Hi,
My name is Murphy and as you can see the people who used to own me
weren't taking care of me!
I have mange (the non-contagious kind), am very under weight and very
hungry for attention. My new best friends from Adopt a Husky came to
my rescue. A nice lady from Ft. Worth
Animal Services put out a call for ADHI to rescue me, and they did! I
can't believe it - I got a new chance at life!!

My first week I stayed at a vet clinic where they had to administer
doses of fluids via IV, one day they even thought I wasn't going to
pull through. I wouldn't eat, couldn't hardly move and just trembled
all the time. My second week, the vet said I was getting a little
better and was able to be moved out of quarantine. Now I'm staying in
a regular run with other dogs that just had surgeries done or that are
here for vacation. Now I stand up and even wag my tail a bit. If you
speak real nice to me and give me a pet on my patch of fur on my head,
I'll may give you a few kisses. I am even getting stronger and will
woo-woo at you if you're really good.

While I like the people at the vet (they give me lots of kindness), I
would really like to go to a home where I can have a nice bed and a
family to take care of me.
I'm a little scared of people sometimes because I wasn't very loved
where I came from. I'm very affectionate if you give me a chance to
warm up to you though.

I'm a young boy (around 6 months or so) and still need to be neutered
but the vet has promised me I wouldn't have to do that until I get a
little stronger. I am Heartworm Negative so that's not a worry. The
vet staff says I've not ever gone potty in the cage/room that I've
stayed in. I will hold it until someone takes me for a little walk in
the grassy area they have. So it's a good chance that I am partially
house trained - although you may have to refresh my memory at first.

My recovery will take a while. I will most likely lose the little
bits of fur I do have since I have sores under the fur. I will have
to have regular baths to help the scabs and dry skin to come off.

|
I'll need a special lotion put on my skin to keep it moist and help in
the recovery of the skin itself - and to keep my skin from getting too
tight and painful. I'll have to have numerous medications, special
supplements to my diet to help boost my immune system (with my kind of
mange it means my immune system is pretty much shot) and the regular
visit to the vets office for progress checks. In short, I'm going to
need a foster or new family that will be patient, give me the time and
attention I need.
